As soon as you have a permanent address, you should open a bank account with a bank. This is where the money (salary, unemployment money, social welfare, child allowance) will be paid.

After registering at the registry office, you will receive a letter with your tax identification number within 2 weeks. Keep this somewhere safe.

The tax identification number remains valid for your entire life and does not change, even if you move houses or marry.

When you reach your pension age, you will receive pension payments every month instead of your pay. You will need to have reached the official age limit for this. This means: You need to be of a certain age.

Social welfare/basic social security offers you financial support if you are temporarily or permanently not in a position to earn your own living.

The welfare office in Mühlacker will advise you and check your application forms relating to disabled person’s pass, exemption from kindergarten fees etc. If you are uncertain whether or not you are entitled to claim discounts or reimbursement, just ask our staff.
